SOKE LIL JOHN DAVIS OPEN INVITATIONAL MARTIAL ARTS TOURNAMENT

1. EVENT OVERVIEW The Soke Lil John Davis Martial Arts Open Invitational is an international martial arts championship honoring the legacy and global influence of Soke Lil John Davis. Held in Nassau, Bahamas, this historic three‑day event will unite martial artists from around the world for competition, fellowship, and cultural celebration.
This event will be unprecedented. For the first time, the Grand Championship Division will feature an anticipated 2,000 male competitors and 1,000 female competitors, each competing for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place honors.

3. REGISTRATION & FEES
Grand Championship Divisions • Entry Fee: $350 • Payment Deadline: September 15, 2027
White to Junior Black Belt Divisions • Entry Fee: $150 • Includes: Weapons, Kata, Fighting, Self‑Defense
Senior Rank Competitors • All divisions open • Entry Fee: $65 per competitor **All funds must be paid in full on or before September 15, 2027.
4. SPECTATOR ADMISSION • Adults: $25 • Children 0–5: Free • Children 6–12: $10 • Teens 13–17: $15
5. COMPETITION RULES & GUIDELINES
5.1 General Conduct • Respect, discipline, and sportsmanship are mandatory. • Unsportsmanlike behavior may result in disqualification. • Coaches must remain in designated areas. • No profanity or disrespect toward judges or staff.
5.2 Uniform & Equipment Requirements Uniforms • Clean traditional gi or approved martial arts uniform • Belt rank must be visible • No jewelry or loose accessories Protective Gear (Fighting Divisions) Mandatory: • Headgear • Mouthguard • Hand pads • Foot pads • Groin protector (males) • Chest protector (females) Optional: • Shin guards • Forearm guards
5.3 Division Categories Weapons • Traditional or creative • Judged on control, technique, difficulty, and presentation
Kata / Forms • Traditional, open, or creative • Judged on precision, power, rhythm, and spirit
Point Fighting • Light‑contact, controlled techniques • First competitor to reach required points wins • Excessive contact results in penalties
Self‑Defense Demonstration • Realistic, controlled demonstrations • Judged on technique, effectiveness, and safety
5.4 Scoring System Kata & Weapons • 5.0 – 10.0 scale • High and low scores dropped • Middle scores averaged
Point Fighting - 2 minute • 1 point: Hand techniques to legal target areas • 1 points: Kicks to body • 1 points: Kicks to head • First to 3 points or highest score at time limit wins (Under belts) • First to 5 points or highest score at time limit wins (Black belts)
Self‑Defense • Judged on realism, control, technique, and presentation
5.5 Safety Rules • No strikes to spine, throat, groin, or joints • No uncontrolled takedowns • No blind techniques • Medical staff on site • Unsafe competitors will be removed
6. GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP RULES Eligibility • Open to all qualified competitors • Must be registered in advance • Entry Fee: $350 Format • Multiple elimination rounds • Male and female divisions • Finals held during Saturday banquet
Awards • 1st Place: Grand Champion Trophy + Cash Prize • 2nd Place: Trophy + Certificate • 3rd Place: Trophy + Certificate
